This Fall Boston-based artist Linda Price-Sneddon has created Wonder Worlds,a fantastical installation, filling the entire Kidspace gallery. Its thematic focus on systems, both natural and human-made, suggests how careful observation expands our awareness and understanding of the many ecosystems of which we are a part. The transformation of simple craft materials - pom-poms, string, colored tape and pipe cleaners - into complex ecosystems evokes visual memories of natural systems such as coral reefs, mountain ranges, thickets, and the earth's topography, as well as less tangible networks, such as relationships found in families or schools. Fun Activities for Kids!
1,000 Ways to Use Pom-Poms and Pipe Cleaners This is a fun activity to do with your friends and family. Each person should have two pom-poms and three pipe cleaners. Make something using this materials either "realistic" (like a dog or flower) or "abstract" (like an unusual shape). You can cut the materials or keep them as they are. Then take your piece and try to connect it somehow to your friend's or family member's sculpture. You will have to work as a team to figure out how you can make a new sculpture using your individual work. |
