David Byrne 20” x 28” A collector’s item for MASS MoCA and Talking Heads fans alike – a poster from MASS MoCA’s and David Byrne’s very first exhibition in 1996.  The Byrne installation – titled Desire and housed in a raw unfinished space in Building 13 -- included some large scale backlit transparencies (as in bus stop advertising).  Byrne explained ""
I love and fear what ads do to me.  In order to pleasure myself,
I have appropriated or adopted the look, the style, the color, the technique of ads, but not the content. I want to stimulate myself, to make myself drool, but not inspire consumption of consumer goods."
