Presented by Sundance Institute Theatre Lab
In conjunction with Sundance Institute’s vaunted Theatre Lab Program (at MASS MoCA for a two-week residency), we present a staged reading of My Arm by Lab Fellow
Tim Crouch. My Arm is the story of an empty gesture.
It’s the confession of a man who has lived for thirty years
by the courage of his lack of conviction, all the while
becoming a celebrated medical specimen and an icon
of the New York art scene.
Crouch's story is told through a combination of live performance and the animation of everyday objects supplied by
the audience before the performance. Simple, honest, intimate and painfully funny, My Arm is above
all an extraordinary work of solo theatre about modern art,
bloody-mindedness and how the things we do when we’re
ten stick with us for life.
“… Crouch is the most
engaging of performers,
and he is actually
exploring on stage
the nature of art and
performance itself, taking
risks in the process… At
these moments, Crouch
is armed and dangerous.” -The Guardian
