Hip Hop Dance Party with ReadNex Poetry Squad

Saturday, July 2, 2011, 8:00 pm
Courtyard C or Hunter Center
$15 Adv/$19 Day of Show/$10 Teens & Kids

As part of Lift Evry Voice, a new Berkshire countywide festival celebrating African-American culture and heritage, the social-activist hip-hop group, ReadNex, will speak the truth while spreading love and understanding with an electrifying dance party after the sun goes down. Chronogram Magazine raves, The band is an out-and-out activist machine, for whose members art and progressive work are simply inseparable.

The group consists of DJ H20 and four poets, Decora, FreeFlowin, Jarabe Del Sol, and Latin Translator. Tao Rodriguez-Seeger, grandson of Pete Seeger, said: The ReadNex [members] are totally fearless when it comes to music. They sat in with my band at the Clearwater Festival once, and Decora and Jarabe rhymed in English and Spanish over the music. Id never done anything like that before, and it was really incredible. We definitely did the most exciting version of This Land Is Your Land Ive ever played.
