Meet artist Iņigo Manglano Ovalle, get your first look at his new exhibition in Building 5, Gravity Is a Force to Be Reckoned With, and enjoy light refreshments at the opening reception for our newest exhibition.
The installation is based upon Mies van der Rohe's uncompleted project, The 50x50 House (1951). In it a square structure open to view on all four sides through glass walls. The house will be constructed at approximately half scale and inverted, the ceiling of the original becoming the sculpture's floor, the floor becoming the ceiling, and all interior elements such as Mies-designed furniture and partition walls installed upside down. Gravity will seem held at bay.
RSVP by December 4 to 413.664.4481 x8112 or by email to Rebecca Rice.
