This multimedia production examines the general upheaval of the 1960s and the Beat Generation’s startling notions of social rebellion. As society today still grapples with the change of that era, this work-in-progress performance reminds us why it matters.

Join us for a special opportunity to take a dance class in ZviDance repertory led by acclaimed choreographer Zvi Gotheiner, who The New York Times recently called “the Zen Dance Master of New York.” Dancers from all corners of the dance world, from Broadway to ballet and from beginners to the legendary Wendy Whelan, flock to his class. “I never leave his class without feeling like a dancer, feeling happy to be a dancer,” says Michael Trusnovec of the Paul Taylor Dance Company (The New York Times). The Master Class is for intermediate and advanced dancers ages 16+ and will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 4pm, in MASS MoCA’s Rehearsal Hall. Arrive in time to warm-up and wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Dance shoes are not required. Quiet observers are welcome. Reserve your space by calling the box office at 413.662.2111 x1.

What to expect

We’ll be in our premier venue, The Hunter Center, for this one. Preferred tickets are general admission seats located in the first rows of the theater. Full bar is available.

Dance performances are a great opportunity to explore the museum. Visit the galleries in the late afternoon (open till 5pm), then have dinner at Lickety Split, our museum café; Gramercy Bistro, a nouveau-cuisine restaurant on campus; or venture into downtown North Adams, then return for a drink and the show.
